Spring Forward
We may have lost an hour last night, but we're not phased. In our house, we demand that every day is a good day and we're rarely disappointed. Today was no exception.
After enjoying a lovely (and huge for the girls) Hyde Park breakfast with an old friend, the girls were ready for a nap. Lela's naps are notoriously shorter than Cate's. Sometimes she relishes her solo play time and other times she pushes her way into their bedroom to wake up her sister. Today fell into the latter scenario. Cate was a little groggy but handled it like a champ.
After a little indoor play time, we headed outside into the strange spring weather. With windbursts and short bouts of rain, the girls got to enjoy their daily dose of fresh air in new forms.
This next image sums up what I imagine will be a recurring experience this year and for years to come. Babies running off into the sunset without looking back. "Onward young grasshopper, we've got your back." But let's be clear... we've only got your back if you're still on the sidewalk. On this side of the street. Thankfully, she did indeed STOP.

Backpacking Training
Warm sunny days are here again! I definitely expect them to be interspersed among cold, wintery days for the next six to eight weeks, but that's just fine with me. We'll take whatever sun rays we can get.
Last weekend we managed to try out our kid packs on a hike in Pole Cat Gulch. Complete with great views of the city.
I figure if I carry growing girls in packs on a regular basis I'll be in excellent backpacking condition by the end of the summer. Not sure when I'd have the opportunity to go backpacking, but it sure will be nice to feel big and strong. Like Popeye.
