We Belong In A Zoo
For those of you who don't know, St. Louis has an incredible zoo in an incredible city park. And it's FREE!
We don't think of ourselves as being terribly cheap, but it might be telling that we went to the zoo three times during our visit. And maybe even more telling that we made sure to get there during the first hour each time, when the children's zoo, carousel, and stingray petting were also free. For the record, I highly recommend stingray petting if you ever get the chance to do so in a controlled (spikes removed) environment.

STL
We flew to St.Louis. We had a lovely time visiting with family and friends. I will update you on all of our STL adventures, but first I must vent...
I'm not going to petition the airline industry or anything but I had a strong feeling before this trip (and an even stronger feeling now) that parents should have to pay full fare for kids over 18 months old. Now we all know that I won't be buying tickets for the girls if I don't have to, but I sort of wish I had to. Flying with them in our laps at this stage is awful. Not always, but an hour or two of awful is enough awful to make me want to cancel all future flights.
Having said that, I'd like to share my gratitude for the kind stranger sitting four rows in front of us who shared her iphone (with jumping monkey app) and when that didn't work, took my baby girl, cast a magic spell over her and kept her the rest of the flight.
I wish every flight had open seats like this one...
